Well 2020 and 2021 have proven to be hard hit years for many small local businesses trying to stay in business. With COVID cases increasing for the third time now and small local business having to close their doors, while big box stores remain open, some little guys never recovered and some are barely hold on. 😥 😪
Sadly, another new local Gift Shop and Basket business that also started up last year closed their doors just a few short months ago.
When I started my business, I started it with the intention of it being a home based business. Something to allow me to semi-retire from the patch in the near future but still keep busy by working for myself. I do rely on Facebook Marketing and advertising and Instagram and family and friends sharing my posts and promoting my business to help me market my business. As well, I have a online website and store to sell my products and gift baskets & gift box through. So my business is always open, no matter if Covid has stores closed. I can still ship across Canada or deliver local to Cold Lake/Bonnyville or meet customers to exchange products and merchandise for free pick up.
Last week I purchased a large amount of merchandise from that little Gift shop business that closed down. I have been busy unpacking, inventorying and cataloguing and sorting the new merchandise and products I purchased. But there is a far amount of things I will not be selling through my Website due to them note being Canadian Made products. As you know, my business is about supporting Canadian Made products through Canadian businesses, artisans and indigenous communities. So you may see me hold a yard sale or selling items through the local buy & sell markets. Maybe I will use some for product giveaways, 🧐 but not for sale on my site.
So watch for some home decor items to slowly be added to my Website and check out the cool new merchandise (pictures inserted) over the next few weeks. You know what I will be doing with my time in the evenings and weekends until its done. 😉 Until next time. Be happy and stay safe! Michelle💗
